Highlights from the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central 2H 2024 Release

18 October 2024

The latest release from SAP SuccessFactors brings some exciting updates to Employee Central. With a clear focus on making life easier for HR teams and improving overall user experience, the 2H 2024 release is all about streamlining processes, saving time, and making your daily system interactions more delightful.

Let’s take a look at some of the key highlights.

Enhancements to the Latest People Profile Experience

1. Launch of the Full Profile View
The Latest People Profile Experience has had a serious upgrade, bringing all the key employee info—personal data, job details, compensation, performance history, and more—into one easy-to-navigate space - the Full Profile view. No more endless clicking and scrolling around just to find that one piece of info. It's all there, right where you need it.

2. New People Profile Admin Tool
If you like things just the way you want them, you’ll appreciate this update. The new People Profile Admin tool lets you decide which bits of profile info should be front and centre. With this new feature, administrators can now configure and customise the content of both the Spotlight and Full Profile views.

3. Profile Preview and Spotlight View Enhancements
- Profile Preview now replaces the legacy Employee Quickcard throughout the SuccessFactors suite.
- Spotlight View is now more configurable, allowing employees to further leverage this feature to build and represent their personal brand.

General Display Name Automatically Enabled for All Customers

To ensure all customers benefit from the consistency and flexibility of the General Display Name feature, this is now automatically turned on after 2H 2024 Release. Opt-out will still be available and the plan in the roadmap is to make this universal by 1H 2025.

For customers that have it enabled already, no further action is required.

For customers that have yet to enable this, these are the key things to check and verify:

  • As part of the migration, SAP will run the Migrate General Display Name job in both preview and production systems. After completion, the feature will be enabled, and names will be generated based on the configuration. Check the job status in Admin Centre > Scheduled Job Manager.
  • After the migration job completes in your instance, review the employee name in the format configured for General Display Name. You can adjust the name format to best suit your needs.

AI-Assisted Writing Enhancements

Who doesn’t love a little help from AI?

In 1H 2024, SAP introduced AI-powered insights in Compensation Information, giving business stakeholders data-driven recommendations to make those tricky salary decisions easier. This will continue to be available in 2H 2024 along with the Full Profile view.

In addition, employees can now use AI-Assist when writing their self-description in Profile Preview.

Employee Central Quick Actions is now even better

This powerful feature lets you create templates for the most frequently used employee and manager self-service actions.

With these templates, you can tailor the fields displayed for each action, unlike the standard Take Action menu that shows all configured fields. The goal? To streamline the self-service experience for managers and employees by showing only the essential fields needed for each specific action. Simplify and enhance your workflow with ease.

In 2H 2024, this feature has been refined with the introduction of new actions. For example, the Incumbent of Parent Position field is now available, making it easier to facilitate transfers and promotions.

Pending Requests Page Upgrades

The New Pending Requests page has officially replaced the legacy UI in 2H 2024. In this release, the following key enhancements were introduced as part of this universal rollout:

  • Access requests awaiting my approval – directs users to the My Workflow Requests page for processing approvals
  • Requests Reassigned to Others Tab – displays requests delegated or escalated by the current user, pending approval.

These improvements are designed to optimise employee experience in accessing, prioritising, and responding to pending workflow requests—key elements of their daily tasks. Enjoy a smoother, more efficient routine.

All in all, the 2H 2024 release of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central is all about enhancing efficiency and user experience. With streamlined processes, smarter tools, and intuitive features, managing HR tasks has never been easier.
